How do I change my default MFA verification method?

What is Multifactor Authentication (MFA)?

Firstly, Go here and sign in using your staff or student account as normal.

1. Click Add sign-in method.

2. Select which method you want from the dropdown.

Adding New MFA Methods

Authenticator App 

Firstly you will need to install the Microsoft Authenticator App on you Android or IOS device.

1. Click 'Authenticator App' from the dropdown list and click 'Add'.

2. Click Next.

3. Click Next.

4. Within the Authenticator app on your mobile device scan the QR code shown on the screen.

On your Mobile Device

Open the Microsoft Authenticator App and follow the below steps. 

    • Click the +.

    • Click on Work or school account.
  • mceclip2.png 
    • Click Scan the QR code. Scan the code like the one pictured above. Then sign in using your staff / student account.

Once done. You need to set the Authenticator App as your Default sign-in method

5. Click on Change.

6. From the dropdown select Microsoft Authenticator - notification, Then click Confirm.

Text Message or Call from your Mobile Device

1. Click Phone from the dropdown list and click Add.

2. Select either Text me a code or Call me, add your mobile number and then click Next.

Text me a code - You will be sent a text message containing a 6 digit code that you will need to enter and then click on Next.

Call me - You will receive a call from Microsoft and will be asked to press the mceclip16.png, once done it will close itself.

Once done. You need to set the Phone - text +3530123456789 or Phone - call+3530123456789 as your Default sign-in method.

3. Click on Change.

4. From the dropdown select Phone - text +3530123456789 or Phone - call+3530123456789, Then click Confirm.
