How can I set up a Webinar on Teams?

A Teams webinar is particularly useful when you want to advertise a session to a large group without having to invite individual participants. You can share a single registration link, allowing interested participants to register themselves. Once registered, the session is automatically added to their calendar along with the joining details.

Webinars also offer more fine-grained control over the attendee experience, making them particularly useful for larger or more structured sessions.

Setting Up a Webinar

Step 1: Create a new event

Highlight create a new event and use the drop-down menu to select the Webinar template.

Step 2: Add the basic information

Enter the basic webinar details:

  • Webinar name
  • Date
  • Time

Click Save.

Step 3: Configure the meeting options

Open Meeting options.

The appropriate settings will depend on how you want the webinar to operate. Some typical meeting options are shown below. Hit apply when you are happy with the options that you have chosen. Then save again.

Step 4: Publish the webinar

When you are happy that the webinar and meeting options have been configured correctly, click Publish.

Once the webinar has been published, use the dialog box to copy the event link. This link can then be included in an email or other communication about the event.
