What is Orientation at NCI as an International Student?

Orientation is an information session that is organised by the Student Services Team and is specific to your course. 
This is also when you collect your Student Card.

What happens at Orientation?

Orientation takes place in person and you will receive an email invitation from orientation@ncirl.ie.
 
If you do not receive an email, you should still attend, check your date and time on the Full-Time Registration and Orientation page (which will be updated in September and January for each intake). Dates and times vary by course.
 
During your session, you will:
 
  • meet the Dean of your School
  • get important information about your course and NCI systems
  • learn about student supports and services
  • meet your classmates

Do I collect my student card at Orientation?

To ensure their student card is ready on time, new international students must have:

Students who have completed all steps will collect their student card at their Orientation session.

Are Orientation and the International Welcome Meeting two different things?

Yes. They are different, separate sessions, and international students should attend both to make sure they are fully prepared.
 
Your International Welcome Meeting is scheduled for you after you complete your registration form and it is:
 
  • designed for international students
  • an in-person session with International Peer Mentors and other new international students
  • a chance to receive your welcome pack
  • an opportunity to ask questions and get key information about living and studying in Ireland
Important: Your Immigration and Welcome Letters will be sent to your student email within 3 working days after your Welcome Meeting.
